About me

I was born on the 11 of August 1969 in a small village in the southwest of the Netherlands. As a young child I was always undertaking and adventurous.  When I was 8 years old my schoolteachter wrote in my report:  ‘ Corné shows a lot of interest in the birds outside’. 

The last 6 years in the Netherlands I worked as a banker for Van Lanschot Bankiers NV. After several expeditions in Africa, my wife Miriam and me decided that our future was in the lowveld of Hoedspruit.

And so  we emigrated from the Netherlands to the bush in South-Africa in 2004. We bought a 21 hectare piece of land, in the Balule Big-5 private nature reserve. Here we built in a years time our own Amukela Game Lodge.
Since 2011 I am a freelance agent for Century21 Wildlife Properties in Hoedspruit.

I am the proud father of 2 boys: Niels –born in 2006- and Dennis –born in 2008-. My hobby’s are wildlife, football, movies, reading and my family.
